[How does he go about asking this...? Well, he might as well go all in, right? Though politely. Always politely.]

Excuse me, I have a question for any and all of us who have experienced immortality.

Were you always immortal? If not, what was it like for you to first taste immortality? I understand the condition isn't a given in Ellipsa, but it does hold true in my world. My Master was immortal and now I wish I had asked her about it thoroughly.

[Cultivation is unique (particularly of the type he and Xue Yang practiced) and poor Xingchen is trying to adjust.]

Oh I was created immortal. It isn't full immortality but I have had it since I sprung forth into existence.

Though seems Ellipsa makes mortals of us all. What a concept!

I'm not immortal but I am thinking about becoming immortal.

In my world you can with magic peaches from the celestial realm. And other ways. Monkey King is like ten ways immortal or something like that.

[Gentlebreeze...? Odd, why does that sound so familiar?]

I was born immortal. I technically have a way to "die", but it requires a specific process only authorities of my world can perform. Not to mention we have no idea what really happens to us so we aren't even sure we can call it dying.
noodleboi: (S4 Human - what is that)

How did you cultivate it? Through like enlightenment? Like Buddha?

I suppose. Though it is closer to reincarnation, is it not? Depends on how one defines immortality.

I know a lot about their worst traits. Though I have also been shown even the worst souls can have good inside them.

Mortals are complicated.

Kind of felt like I was stepping out from under a boulder hanging over my head, honestly. In my sect, you can't become a peak lord without ascending to immortality first, and there was a lot depending on my doing so.

But otherwise? It didn't feel all that different? I think forming my core felt like a bigger impact.

Oh.

...Being immortal kinda comes with a sacrifice too, doesn't it? When you make friends with people, you know you'll lose them one day. Same with the people you already know and love. Like your family.

I mean, doesn't that depend on how the person dies? Like what they learn about themselves, or the people they care about.

True. Redemption isn't something you stumble into on accident. It is a road you have to want to walk. But you don't have to walk it alone.

Very true.

I am as well now. One of the perks of immortality. You have the time to walk that path with those people.

Not really, no. Being immortal since my creation, I never knew mortality. Well, somewhat. I do miss one person I cared very much about. Though the soul is immortal and so my wife and the others I care about still exist. For the most part.
