I'm not sure how necessary this warning ends up being, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
If you ever see a small, white creature, going by the name Incubator or Kyubey, I advice you all not to listen to a word they say. Anything they have to offer is a not worth it and all you would do is fall into their trap.
Especially do not, under any circumstances, accept the contract they offer.
Here is a picture drawn by my friend to show what the creature looks like.
Thank you for your time.

Wow, that creature looks like some kid's ugly soft toy. But I'm guessing that contract is some sort of monkey's paw where it grants your wishes in the worst way possible, right?
[She took the time, then, to scroll over other responses. Who'd even sign up for a shady contract like that? Trading their humanity away for magic, and for getting their wishes granted? Anyone could see that was a terrible idea, couldn't they?
Then again, her mind ended up straying to comments her Father had made. Whispers about the Golden Witch, Beatrice who had blessed their family with 10 tons of gold using her magic... This situation sounded a little like that- or perhaps like using one's own willpower to bring about an impossible miracle, like she was trying to do. That was 'Magic', too, wasn't it?
Haha, would she have the 'potential' to be a Magical Girl, by that logic?
She was making her own miracle come to pass that way, after all. One step at a time...paving the way for a future self who could really sit at the head of the Ushiromiya family despite every resistance her Father and Brothers threw her way.
But she wouldn't call herself something like a 'Magical Girl' because of that. Instead, if it did fit with her own understanding, there was one obvious word that came to mind: ]
If "Magical Girls" are making contracts and using their impossible powers to bring about their miraculous wishes into the world, that sounds more like the work of a Witch to me.
Ushiromiya Eva

[That is about the only thing that Kyubey can be trusted with. The wishes do come true.
That sure is a statement. The thought a concept like that exist in other worlds is definitely something that gives Homura a pause. Magical girls and witches have more in common in other universes, she figures. Well... "more common" is a wrong train of thought, all things considered.]
Going by that description it would make 'Kyubey' the Witch, they are the wish granters. Magical girls are the ones who get their wishes granted and use their powers to fight. These powers are grand, yes, but not omnipotent like the wish granting ability Kyubey has.
[Kyubey being a witch would be a hilarious plot twist.]

The Golden Witch Beatrice was Kyuubey all along, and Eva's Old Man Kinzo is secretly a Magical Girl.]So it doesn't twist the wishes to it's own interpretation, that's something...
But maybe you're right, if Kyubey is granting that power to start with, that would make it a Witch. So Magical Girls can never reach that same power of a Witch themselves?
[...If only Eva had any idea.]
no subject
Well, she's not going to outright admit what happens to magical girls in the end, so time to be vague.]
They can, but it's not without a price. Nothing comes without a price.

[What would she do, if Kyubey approached her? Sure, she could wish for her Father to acknowledge her, or to guarantee her place as future Head of the Family- but no, she wanted to achieve that on her own merits, using her own magic and willpower. Not rely on the blessings of a Witch.
...But hadn't relying on the blessings of a Witch been how her Father revived the family in the first place? If you believed the stories.]
If it were be I'd want to achieve my wishes without relying on a weird little rat like that. I don't want to accept that what I want is so impossible I need to call on a miracle from someone or something else.
Guessing you can't just get rid of that thing either?

Unfortunately no. It has multiple copies of itself, so when one dies another takes its place.
tw sadism
Copies? Really?
Well, even if it didn't, things with that sort of power never really go away. Even if you can't see them, what's to say they're not lurking out there in the dark?
[The horror stories her Father had told her and her brothers about the witch in the forest came to her mind once again.]
Either way, I appreciate the warning. I'll let you know if I see that thing. Maybe pin it's tail down somewhere remote and leave it there. It won't get a copy if it doesn't actually die right?

tw more Kyubey abuse
["Helping"]
What does this thing even get out of these shady deals anyway? Is it like a Faustian thing where it grants wishes in exchange for someone's eternal soul after they die?

They claim it's to save the universe. Destroy one world, save the whole universe, that sort of a thing.
