[He'd been thinking about this for days, now. Days, and weeks. Not sure if he wants to talk about it with other people, if he was ready to. But the nagging feeling of needing answers has him finally deciding to ask these questions. His last post wasn't too long ago, but hopefully that didn't matter.]

For those of you who have lost one or more limbs I have a few questions. Answer as many as you feel like.

1. How hard was it adapting to your new loss?
2. Did you choose to have it replaced with a prosthetic?
3. How useful is your prosthetic? Does it feel weird when you use it?
4. Could you use your prosthetic for battle?
5. Is it possible to make a prosthetic limb into a weapon?
6. Do you regret the decision to remove and replace the limb? Was it your decision to begin with?
7. Would you rather have your normal limb again? Or are you used to your new one or prefer it?
8. If you don't have a prosthetic why is that? Is it easier for you to live without one?

And finally:

9. Is there a place here that provides a service to amputate and replace with a prosthetic? Can they make something that will help me in battle? To my exact needs?

I'm not settled on the decision yet. That's why I'm asking these questions. I'm a Hero who uses my hands to fight and one of them isn't working. I need to weigh the pros and cons of keeping or replacing it.

I lost about half of my right leg just before finishing high school awhile back. I recovered fairly quickly. My experience is not typical, I understand.

1. Easy for me. A little physical therapy and I was back to school.
2. Yes, it's why it was easy. The alternative was a crutch given it was my leg.
3. No. But you may notice phantom pains in the part of the limb that's not there.

9. I'm not certain on a service as mine requires zero maintenance.

Sorry that happened to you. Can't imagine losing something as important as a leg, especially as a teen. But at least you've had a good healing experience. And it sounds your prosthetic works just fine for what you need it for.

It's no wonder you're so against sparring. If you've got a fake limb not make for fighting it'd be pretty easy to break it.

I'm not sorry about it. I'm responsible for my own choices. They're not worth pity or regret. I'm happy to be where I am.

And it probably wouldn't break, but I still am not into the idea of sparring.

Huh. That so? I can respect that.

I can also respect that you don't want to spar even if I still think everyone should. But ignoring that: how long did it take you to get used to your new limb? I'm curious since it's a leg rather than an arm. I feel like it'd be a lot harder to deal with.

Not long. I adjusted fast. A couple of weeks maybe? I don't like being laid up like that, either. It gets boring. I think the other guy was in the hospital longer.

Other guy? Did he do that to your leg?

If so that serves him right.

I mean, he deserves something. But no, it's not his fault. He did get the hell beaten out of him, though.

How is it not his fault if he's the one that made you loose half your leg? What kind of accident can even do that to someone?

Car accidents. Getting involved in a fight with someone much larger than yourself. Like I said, I don't blame him.

Alright. Yeah. I guess those are pretty normal examples...

My mind always jumps to the most violent option. Maybe I should stop listening to it more often.

I mean, regardless of it all. I'm not mad at anyone over it.

My life isn't changed because of it. If I were you, I only wouldn't do it if it would make my life worse. After all, there's only three results: worse, the same, or better.

...that's true. And after listening to a few different people I can't really say that I think it would make it worse.

There's still a few concerns I have. But... I dunno. I'm starting to think I should do it.

...I mean. I'd do it in this case.
