Hello to whomever this post may reach.
I'm fairly new here, my name is Ryo Asuka and I was a university professor and researcher at home. As such, you can expect that I may have a certain amount of curiosity about the worlds people come from.
[ An easy smile. His tone is calm and polite, even when talking about the things he's about to say. He maintains an even tone, and sounds very matter of fact. ]
No, I'm not asking for full details on your homes. But my world was struck down by the apocalypse. Or an apocalypse. It was what one would expect. Destruction, death - it was Biblical. That was the last thing happening before I was brought here, so you can imagine my surprise to be in such a thriving place.
I have a lot of interest in theologies and religious practices, so I want to know what they are like where you're from. Do you have god or gods? Faith, religion, apocalypse stories. Do you have an interesting superstitions or holidays?
My world had a lot of different religions and practices - but obviously certain ones were prominent.
I appreciate anything you can share. Or are willing to share.

There's two thirds of Apocalypse Bird here, but it's probably fine.

Two thirds of anything with the name Apocalypse in it sounds a little close for comfort. Will it actually cause the apocalypse or is it just an edgy name?

There's a religion that got popular real recently, their version of God exists in the 'net. Believers get an implant in their head that'll let God "download" their soul when the time comes and they'll gain eternal life. It started becoming a problem a few years ago 'cuz folks were getting those implants illegally and you can't back alley a fuckin' thing into your brain without there being consequences.
That's just one of like, thousands of religions. Some worship one god, some worship multiple, others believe in something else entirely. Depends on where you go in the world.

We have a lot of different ones, too. Polytheistic to monotheistic. Though to be honest, many are pretty similar.

Some people in my world think that the existence of demons, which is provable, means that the existence of God is also proven. I'm more skeptical. I've never been to heaven, I don't know what's going on up there.
swaps to text.
I can't blame them. Christianity holds the belief that the Devil, Satan, whatever you want to call him - is associated with demons. The Devil and demons tempt humankind into sin, to lead them away from their God. In the same faith, the Devil was once that God's favorite angel before he rebelled and was cast out of heaven.
For anyone who deeply wants to believe in God and Heaven, that would be enough proof.
Personally, I think that this version of God doesn't sound as unconditionally loving as you'd think an all-knowing being would be.

[Well, that certainly captured Rosen's attention. He gives the professor a little wave as he smiles into the camera. However, that smile of his is more of a smirk than anything else.]
How intriguing! In my world, we're still trying to avoid such a tragic end by fighting against those who would drag us to the apocalypse.

I wish you the best in your attempts. Ours were not successful.

I guess that means either you're a super good person or you're chill enough to hang out with the devil.
I kind of hope it's the second one? Haha.
Anyways. Hi? My name is Venus and I'm the devil.
Uhhh. We have God, he sucks. He might be different than your God though. A lot of other people have told me they don't hear God talk to them through the radio? So. You know.

People better than myself died, so I'm pretty sure it's not the rapture. The apocalypse doesn't discriminate between good and bad.
The Devil - like Devil?
[ This is a first for him. He shouldn't be too surprised by this, though. ]
As in Satan. Lucifer. God's most beloved turned rebellious child. The morning star. Your name, Venus, is apt then.

Gods...there's nothing special about them. What I can say is to never trust them, no matter what.
Your world was destroyed, correct? Was this the work of the gods of your own world?
not here
no subject
However, I can draw some conclusions, so correct me if I'm wrong. Your world is polytheistic and the gods are not kind and merciful beings. Although I imagine that last part is all about perception.
It's unclear what caused my home world's destruction exactly. I can only make assumptions. Maybe it was God. Maybe it was God and Satan in the middle of a family feud. Maybe it was the ultimate destiny for mankind. The path they were meant to land on as a result of their own actions.

Odds are, this is a coincidence. There's no one left from Nenonen's world, and certainly not any of the tower's researchers or doctors. They had deteriorated so long ago--and yet still, Ryo's description of the world he came from sounds so eerily simialr to their own that for a long, long while, Nenonen just stares at their device.
It feels like being back home. It feels like being back in time, before the loops began and before the world drowned in black.
Nenone inhales sharply. Forces their breathing to even out despite the urge to stutter and gasp, and then...begins to type: ]
How did your world end?
Did the sun go black?[ Nenonen deletes the last line, and presses 'send.' ]

So, I guess what I'm saying is I don't think any of it matters. You don't need gods to cause the apocalypse. Humanity can manage that on its own just fine.
[ he has... a lot of experience in that area. ]
no subject
I don't necessarily think a god or God caused the apocalypse in my home. I think - it could just as well be the consequence of humanity's actions and it's a way for Earth to purge and start over.
But I was curious to see what is believed in worlds different from my home.

I dunno about the religion part. Some people still believe that stuff I guess, but mostly we just follow old world traditions out of habit, I think. It's hard to believe in some benevolent higher power when everything sucks.

[ He has. Feelings. ]
Then I suppose you're luck to be here as well if your world was met with a similar fate.

Oh and a family that acts like the biggest of the monster, the original source of it all, is a God itself.
We don't really even have a concept of afterlife, as far as I know. When you die you're lucky you fucking get out the world and get to rest in pieces.
no subject
I can't be certain about the afterlife. And different faiths have different beliefs. Most often it's there's a "reward" and then a "punishment". Which sounds a little too similar to being alive.
I much prefer your world's thought.

It is interesting subject, yes? I was a member of the clergy within my society, in fact, though matters of religion was not my primary role within that organization. You define religion rather narrowly here, but the Gaian Church, formally known as the Hegemonic Church of All Gods and Mysteries, is a fundamental institution within the Gaian Hegemony, who concerns itself more with philosophy, academics, and the function of man as a political animal, than the do the administration of any particular brand of worship.
That said, the Church does loosely administer all cults within Hegemonic purview, and I've prayed and offered to a handful of deities from time to time. I'm not particularly pious, myself.
no subject
Interesting. Well, my curiosity was fairly specific, which is why I asked as I did. Though that's definitely interesting to here. Of those who have answered, you're the first that seems to have a ruling church.
My world doesn't think it has any that rule, but there are some that are heavily influenced by church and the religion - even with politics and academics. Though I can't say it's universal. Not even in a single nation.

An interesting line of thought! I never used to bother with such silly things. Gods and Devils, Angels and Demons, they hardly have any effect on the common man, just as the opposite is true. We had other things to worry about. Our lives, relationships, futures, and legacies...
But I've since been to Hell, seen the fall of Heaven, and left my humanity behind.
I find it strange, and fascinating, how I don't really feel any different.
no subject
When you say you left your humanity behind, is this metaphorically or literally.
